| Bio: | I am a historian who studies the most obscure of topics- the history of costumes. Don't ask me how I got started there. Thankfully I am from Scotland, where costume history is extremely rich. That is of little consequence to this Journal I am about to keep *grin* I've become severely addicted to LoTR fanfiction, after I exhausted the musings on the whole costumes thing. Not that I wasn't an addict already, but recently I find the urge to write. My muse seems to want a change from all the description we have been doing. I spend most of my days in front of books, scrolls, parchments, computer, and if I am lucky, my other half, whose job is far more concerned with the current. And you wonder why opposites attract. Incidentally, my twin sons have cursed the love for Tolkien my husband and I share (I met him in a literature class of Tolkien after all). Especially the younger son. On hindsight, 'Yell Roll Here!" is hardly the best name to survive school with. I did give a thought before including that information here, seeing how amusing it is likely to be in light of the fandom. That was before my son protested that if he had to live with the ignominy the least I could do was live with the jokes. Now you know why I avoid twincest when browsing through fanfiction. And no, my daughter is not named Arwen. And no, I am not telling anyone my age. Anyone who thinks that historians are entirely comfortable with years and are absolutely in love with the adjective 'old' has to be out of his/her mind. Suffice to say I am old enough to remember the days when fashion wasn't about rag-and-bone thin, old enough to remember the Cold War in vivid detail, old enough to wish my kids married. And definitely old enough for tedious, long-winded 'About You''s. | |
